russian Propaganda Continues to Promote a Fake “Tribunal”
The russian TV channel rossiya 24 aired a propaganda program about the so-called “international public tribunal on the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis,” which allegedly documents “mass war crimes by the UAF.”
▫️Despite its grand-sounding name, this body has nothing international about it: it has no legal status and is not recognized by any reputable international human rights organization. It is a media project created by the kremlin solely for propaganda against Ukraine.
▫️The main tool of this pseudo-tribunal is video “confessions” of Ukrainian prisoners of war, clearly obtained under pressure and torture. Such “reports” have no legal or procedural value and are not used in international law.
For many years, russia has been fabricating “evidence of Ukraine’s war crimes” that is not confirmed by any independent sources. Meanwhile, it is russia’s own actions that have been documented by the UN, the International Criminal Court, and human rights organizations as war crimes: torture, executions of civilians, deportations, and the destruction of cities and civilian infrastructure.
