On April 4, russian troops launched two attacks on Kryvyi Rih. First, the city was struck with an Iskander-M ballistic missile equipped with a cluster warhead — the missile hit a residential area and a children’s playground. Later, russian forces carried out a second strike using kamikaze drones. These attacks left 19 people dead and 68 injured.
Nearly four hours after the missile strike, the russian ministry of defense attempted to justify the attack on the residential area by claiming it had targeted a “meeting between Ukrainian commanders and Western instructors.” General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dismissed this claim, emphasizing that the strike targeted a purely civilian location.
On the same day, April 4, a russian FPV drone struck the Kherson Thermal Power Plant, once again violating the ceasefire agreement on energy infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, russia launched 92 attack drones overnight. 51 were shot down, while 31 lost contact with tracking systems. The attacks targeted Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
According to Western media, since the launch of peace talks in Saudi Arabia on February 18, russia has increased its drone strikes by more than 50%. In the 30 days following the start of negotiations, russia carried out 4,776 drone attacks — up from 3,148 in the previous 30 days.
This confirms once again: russia has no interest in ending the war. Its goal is to escalate violence to pressure Ukraine into concessions under the guise of “peace initiatives.”
