russia lies again about Ukraine’s involvement in the “Crocus” attack
russian propaganda continues attempts to falsely link Ukraine to the “Crocus City Hall” attack, which occurred in March 2024 in the moscow region.
▫️ russian propaganda outlets are actively promoting another statement from the russian investigative committee claiming that “the attack was carried out in the interests of the Ukrainian leadership.”
Such claims by the russian investigative committee are not based on any evidence and do not correspond to reality. Although responsibility for the attack was immediately claimed by a unit of the international terrorist organization ISIS, the russian authorities have spent the past two years attempting to implicate Ukraine.
In fact, it is the kremlin that maintains close and consistent ties with ISIS and other Islamist organizations, such as the Taliban, Hezbollah, and Hamas. As previously reported by the Center, at least three thousand russians served in the ISIS Iraqi cell, and the FSB could have used these connections to organize the attack in the moscow region to falsely blame Ukraine.
