russia intensifies disinformation about ZNPP

russian propaganda has intensified a disinformation campaign around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant aimed at discrediting Ukraine. In particular, hostile sources spread a fake claim about an alleged “Ukrainian shelling” of one of the facilities on the territory of the plant.

▫️ Propagandists claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine supposedly struck the roof of the training building of the power plant, which houses a reactor hall simulator. As in other cases of fake accusations of shelling at the Zaporizhzhia NPP directed at Ukraine, russians provide no evidence.

By spreading such lies, russia seeks to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the international community and justify its illegal military presence at the nuclear facility.

Earlier, the Center also reported that russians plan to release propaganda videos to cement the narrative among the global community that the Zaporizhzhia NPP allegedly historically belongs to russia, and to shift the blame for russia’s war crimes onto the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
