Manipulations regarding Andrzej Duda’s statements and the alleged closure of the Rzeszow airport
russian media and pro-russian accounts on social media are spreading a manipulative interpretation of remarks made by Polish President Andrzej Duda in an interview, claiming that Warsaw is allegedly planning to close the airport in Rzeszow, through which most of the Western aid to Ukraine passes. Some messages even speak of “threats to stop aid to Ukraine.”
These claims are false and distort the meaning of Andrzej Duda’s statements. In the interview, the Polish President did not mention plans to close the airport, but rather referred to hypothetical options that could have been used in the past to demonstrate Poland’s importance as a transit country.
Specifically, he said: “We could have closed the airport, but we didn’t. We could have said that we are repairing it, and then close it.”
▫️ It is known that the airport in Rzeszow is under reconstruction, but it remains operational, and there is no intention to halt the transit of aid to Ukraine through it. In the interview, Andrzej Duda directly denied any plans to block aid to Ukraine.
By spreading such disinformation, russian propaganda aims to sow distrust between Ukraine and Poland and create a false impression of alleged “fatigue” among allies over Ukraine.
