Manipulations about the “cleansing of Poland of Ukrainians”
russian propaganda has launched another disinformation campaign, claiming that the Polish authorities have begun a “large-scale expulsion of Ukrainians”. Propagandists manipulate figures and the context of the event, portraying a standard law enforcement operation to search for criminals as “targeted ethnic cleansing” and the “end of the European fairy tale”.
In fact, on March 2-3, a planned nationwide action to identify wanted individuals took place in Poland. According to official Polish police data, 1,944 people were arrested, the majority of whom were Polish citizens. Among the 147 foreigners arrested, 91 were indeed Ukrainian citizens, but they were detained not because of their origin, but on the basis of specific court orders and warrants issued for crimes they had committed.
The purpose of such manipulation is to provoke panic among Ukrainians in the EU and sow hostility between our peoples. Transforming real events into a tool for destabilizing society by distorting their content is a traditional tactic of the kremlin.
