Lithuania warns of potential russian false-flag provocations

Lithuania has warned that russia may carry out false-flag provocations in the Baltic states using captured Ukrainian drones.

▫️ According to Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas, russia is considering attacks on critical infrastructure in the Baltic region using captured Ukrainian UAVs in an attempt to frame Ukraine.

▫️ Similar warnings about possible russian provocations in Eastern Europe have previously been issued by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, citing intelligence assessments.

✅ Following Kaunas’ statement, russian propaganda outlets began claiming that such warnings were evidence of Ukraine preparing provocations in the Baltic states. This may itself be part of an effort by russia to create an “information alibi” ahead of potential false-flag operations.

❗️russia remains the primary threat to security and stability in Eastern Europe. Since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the kremlin has systematically threatened the Baltic states, Poland, and other countries while conducting intimidation campaigns and hybrid attacks, including information influence operations.
