kremlin plans to build up the army until at least 2036
russian government has issued an order to significantly increase the number of individuals fit for military service.
▫️ By 2030, the number of unfit individuals must not exceed 17.5%, and by 2036, it should not exceed 16%. In 2024, approximately 19% of individuals in russia were unfit for service.
▫️ In addition, the government’s approved “concept of the federal system for training russian citizens for military service” aims to strengthen propaganda among youth about “traditional values and moral orientations” and includes a directive that 90% of young people should be involved in sports regularly by 2036.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, war propaganda and the preparation of human resources for military recruitment have become the central focus of russian domestic policy. This is yet another indication that the only scenario being considered in the kremlin is the continuation of the war. Only increased pressure from the international community can force putin to stop.
