russian propaganda is actively spreading another statement by the head of the russian ministry of foreign affairs, sergey lavrov, claiming that russia allegedly “will not abandon the Orthodox people in Ukraine.”
▫️It is noteworthy that these words were made simultaneously with lavrov’s claim that “putin is focused on a peaceful resolution of the conflict.”
▫️In reality, the so-called “protection of canonical Orthodoxy” is just one of the pretexts to justify the continuation of the aggressive war against Ukraine, much like the mythical “protection of russian-speaking population” of Ukraine.
The true attitude of kremlin towards Orthodoxy is clearly evidenced by the churches bombed by russian forces in eastern Ukraine. kremlin continues to use the Orthodox church to spread its own propaganda, while simultaneously destroying churches and killing Orthodox people in Ukraine. The only genuinely useful thing that russia can do for Orthodoxy in Ukraine is to agree to a ceasefire.
