How Russian diplomats promote propaganda in Italy
The Kremlin is actively using diplomatic institutions to influence Italian society and promote propaganda narratives.
▫️ This is aimed at discrediting support for Ukraine, creating an image of Russia as a “victim” of international pressure and promoting anti-American sentiment. At the same time, Russian diplomats often hide their propaganda behind humanitarian initiatives.
For example, through social media pages, Russian diplomats promote statements by Russian officials that Russia is “forced to repel the attack and war unleashed against it by the collective West”, discredit assistance to Ukraine and the work of Ukrainian diplomats, spread interviews with the gauleiters of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, fakes about the Ukrainian government, etc.
Under the guise of diplomatic status, Russia uses its diplomatic missions as one of the tools to justify the war against Ukraine and to spread its influence in Italy.
