How russia recruits people for war through video games
russia plans to create a new computer game dedicated to the use of drones in war. According to russian media, this initiative comes from the ministry of industry and trade of the russian federation.
▫️ Such games can simulate real combat situations and may be used to train drone (UAV) operators as well as to recruit new personnel for the military.
The game may also serve as a propaganda tool, especially among young people. Through gameplay, it can promote narratives that justify russia’s aggression and dehumanize the enemy. With such products, the russian authorities aim to shape a positive perception of war among youth and encourage them to become participants in combat operations.
Earlier, the Center reported how russia had turned the video game industry into yet another tool for spreading influence and kremlin propaganda. For instance, a test version of a real-time strategy game based on the war against Ukraine, “Squad 22: ZOV”, was recently released in russia.
