How Russia is trying to intimidate Europe with fakes about “atrocities of the AFU”
The Center has detected a new wave of disinformation about “atrocities by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region,” amid Europe’s diplomatic efforts. kremlin propagandist vladimir solovyov, during his show, claimed that a “severed child’s head” was allegedly found in the village of Ruske Porichne. He added threats to destroy European cities if European countries “decide to intervene in the conflict.”
▫️ As with other similar cases, the propagandist provided no evidence, only referencing the words of an unnamed soldier. In January, russian media already reported about allegedly “22 civilians killed” in Ruske Porichne, but the public has yet to see any convincing proof.
Amid the intensification of EU diplomacy and visits by European leaders to Kyiv, kremlin is ramping up its efforts to discredit Ukraine. By promoting the myth of a “second Bucha” in the Kursk region, russia aims to present Ukraine as a “barbaric enemy” with whom it is supposedly impossible to negotiate. In this way, moscow seeks to destabilize international peace initiatives and influence Western audiences through fear and shock.
