How russia is glorifying its propagandists abroad
russia continues to use the death of its propagandists as a tool of influence. A series of photo exhibitions titled “Died for the Truth” are being held in various countries around the world, dedicated to the so-called war correspondents who have died in the war zone in Ukraine since 2014. The organizer of these events is “rossotrudnichestvo” — a russian government agency that promotes russian interests abroad under the guise of cultural exchange.
▫️ Exhibitions have already opened in Turkey, India, Serbia, and Germany. Future events are planned in Afghanistan, Spain, Lebanon, Palestine, Luxembourg, Finland, and Kyrgyzstan.
▫️ The activities of russian “war correspondents” have nothing to do with professional journalism. While filming reports in the combat zone, they wear khaki clothing, do not identify themselves as “press,” and effectively act as part of the armed forces. Their appearance and behavior make them, in essence, participants in hostilities.
Through such exhibitions, the kremlin seeks to glorify its propagandists, creating an image of them as “fighters for the truth.” In reality, these individuals did not operate according to journalistic standards but performed an informational and psychological function within russia’s aggressive military campaign against Ukraine.
