Fake front-line geography: putin invents victories again
The latest statements by russian dictator vladimir putin about the course of the war, actively amplified by russian propaganda, are meant to demonstrate confidence and control over the situation. In reality, however, they reveal a disoriented propaganda machine trying to compensate for the lack of battlefield victories with fabricated geography.
▫️ During a press conference in Bishkek, putin presented what he called an “objective picture” of the situation on the front, but got confused in his own claims. He said that “12 km remain to the ring road in Sumy,” although in June he claimed it was 10.5 km. What was true then and what is true now — putin’s statements are far removed from reality. Moreover, there is no such “ring road in Sumy” in the first place.
▫️ putin’s fantasies did not end there: the dictator also announced the “capture” of Sviatohirsk in Donetsk region. This is also false.
▫️ This episode clearly exposes how russia’s reporting system works. When the actual pace of the offensive provides no reason for pride, russia’s general staff draws flattering maps for the dictator, who then publicly presents this fabricated reality.
The main goal of such statements is to create the illusion of “planned progress” for domestic audiences, even when it contradicts reality.
