Using prisoners of war to record propaganda videos, while they are subjected to torture and intimidation in russia, is a typical tactic of ru-propaganda, despite being a grave violation of the Third Geneva Convention.
The increased circulation of such videos is part of russia’s disinformation campaign surrounding the issue of prisoners of war. The enemy’s goal is to create the illusion that russia treats Ukrainian POWs better than Ukraine treats russian POWs, thereby shifting attention away from numerous violations of international humanitarian law in russian captivity.
