moscow sends future diplomats for “training practice” in TOT

Future russian diplomats have been sent for “training practice” to occupied Luhansk. The moscow state institute of international relations organized this trip for its students under the cover of a “humanitarian mission” and “patriotic education.”

▫️ The official aim of the “mission” is to “familiarize students with the history of the region,” but the real subtext is much deeper: russia is moving toward training diplomatic personnel according to the standards of a pariah state.

▫️ The organization of such a trip also says a lot about the institution itself. The moscow state institute of international relations was previously considered a prestigious academic institution and an intellectual center, but today it has turned into an instrument for legitimizing annexation.

Present-day russia has effectively abandoned classical diplomacy based on international law. Instead, a new generation of diplomats is being trained in the “law of force” and in operating under conditions of complete international isolation, while the trip to occupied territories serves as a form of “ideological initiation.”
