AI fake about “Romania preparing to occupy Chernivtsi region”
The Center has recorded the spread on TikTok of another russian AI-generated fake using the image of a Ukrainian serviceman.
▫️ A fake video is circulating online showing a man in military uniform posing as a Ukrainian defender and emotionally claiming that Romania’s regular forces and PMCs are allegedly preparing to occupy the Chernivtsi region.
In reality, the video is a product of russian propaganda created using artificial intelligence. It clearly shows signs of AI generation: unnatural facial expressions, articulation issues, a distinctive “robotic” voice, and incorrect stress in words.
▫️ No official sources or intelligence confirm any troop movements on the border with Romania. The claims voiced by the generated “serviceman” are fabricated by russian disinformation actors. Romania is a strategic partner of Ukraine, providing military and humanitarian assistance, and poses no threat to its borders.
The aim of this information operation is to undermine Ukrainians’ trust in international partners and destabilize the situation in Ukraine’s border regions.
