fake about forced return of Ukrainians from EU

A fake video is circulating on social media, disguised as content from a Western outlet, claiming that Poland, Germany, and France allegedly “committed to returning more than 40,000 draft-age individuals to Ukraine within two months for military service.” To create an appearance of credibility, the video uses real footage from the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris on January 6, overlaid with fabricated text.

This information is false. There are no official statements, decisions, or agreements between Ukraine and EU countries regarding the “forced return of 40,000 people within two months,” nor are there any such reports in Western media.

The spread of such fakes is part of a russian information operation aimed at intimidating Ukrainians abroad, discrediting Ukraine’s European partners, and artificially escalating tensions between Ukraine and the EU.

The Center has previously reported that russian propaganda systematically creates fake videos and “news,” imitating the style and visual identity of Western media to give disinformation an appearance of credibility and amplify its impact.
