Amid a labor shortage caused by the war against Ukraine, russian companies are actively seeking translators fluent in the North Korean dialect of the Korean language.

The Center had previously reported a “catastrophic labor shortage” in the “civilian” sectors of the russian economy. The full-scale war against Ukraine has led to a massive outflow of workers into the army and defense industry. The construction sector is experiencing the most severe crisis: developers are going bankrupt, projects are halting, and there is no one left to do the work. Now, russia is attempting to fill this gap using labor resources from “friendly” totalitarian regimes.
russia has long treated North Korea as a military-political partner and a source of weapons, ammunition, and human labor. The mass recruitment of workers from a totalitarian country is yet another dimension of this cooperation, where human beings are viewed as commodities.
While the putin regime spends money on organizing labor imports from North Korea, its own citizens are being deprived of access to quality education and are being forced to go to war. russian authorities are increasingly revealing their true priorities: they are not interested in human development — only in using people as resources: their own — for the battlefield, and others — for construction.
