Why kremlin is increasingly disconnecting mobile internet to Russians
Mobile internet shutdowns and other communication restrictions are gradually becoming the norm in many regions of russia.
▫️Over the past day, internet outages have been recorded in lipetsk, vladimir, moscow regions, and others. Local authorities explain to residents that these measures are taken “for security reasons.”
The Center has already noted that communication shutdowns (https://t.me/TheCenterforCounteringDisinfo/9013) began in russia ahead of “victory day.” At that time, they were justified as security measures for the celebrations. However, after the holiday, the shutdowns have become more frequent.
The real goal of these actions by kremlin is not the safety of the people. In fact, this is part of the “tightening of the screws” and restriction of freedoms to severely limit russians’ access to information sources unwanted by the kremlin and to prevent any disloyalty to the regime.
