russian propaganda continues its campaign to discredit the defenders in the eyes of Ukrainian society. enemy resources are producing new fakes aimed at creating the illusion that Armed Forces of Ukraine are committing domestic criminal offenses on a large scale.
▫️ propagandists take real news about crimes but add fabricated details about the involvement of military personnel. For example, a headline from a Ukrainian site about a poacher who threatened children with a weapon is accompanied by a false text claiming that the news subject is a soldier on vacation.
▫️ In some cases, kremlin’s fake creators falsify news screenshots using graphic editors. For example, a message is spreading that a soldier was detained for robbery in the city of Shostka. However, the original publication does not mention anything about the detainee being a soldier. The same situation occurs with the “news” about a supposed attack by a soldier on ambulance medical staff in Kharkiv. In both publications, the propagandists replaced the word “man” with “soldier/military personnel” on the screenshot.
The goal of this disinformation campaign is to provoke a divide in Ukrainian society along the lines of “civilians vs military.”
