How russia spreads propaganda in Africa
The kremlin is intensifying its propaganda efforts to expand its narratives and influence in Africa.
Recently, the state duma hosted the so-called “russia-Africa Information Bridge,” aimed at strengthening russia’s media presence on the African continent. As part of this initiative, russia plans to establish collaboration centers with African bloggers, expand its russian television network in Africa, support African “Orthodox bloggers,” and create religious content targeted at African audiences.
At the same time, ru-propaganda actively exploits anti-colonial rhetoric, attempting to portray russia as a country with a “noble mission to end information colonialism in Africa.”
In reality, this rhetoric serves a single purpose—to expand russia’s influence over the continent in a fully neo-colonial manner. For moscow, Africa is nothing more than a source of resources to mitigate the impact of economic sanctions and sustain its war against Ukraine.
