How statistics confirm the nullity of elections in Russia
The Central Election Commission of Russia has released data showing that the number of voters in the occupied territories has decreased by 800,000 over the past year. According to their claims, as of January 1, the number of voters in the regions captured by Russia stood at approximately 3.7 million, whereas in February last year, they had “drawn” a figure of 4.5 million.
Such drastic discrepancies in statistics further confirm that any elections in the occupied territories are a sham. Even the Russians themselves recognize this, as they don’t even attempt to make the numbers look credible. The so-called “elections” Russia conducts in the occupied territories have nothing to do with democracy and directly violate international law.
As the Center has previously emphasized, the “results” of the 2024 presidential election in Russia are null and void, as they were illegally organized in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories. Consequently, Vladimir Putin, who was declared the “winner” of these staged “elections,” is illegitimate.
