How “cultural organizations” contribute to pro-Russian propaganda in Italy
“Cultural organizations” are actively operating in Italy, spreading narratives consistent with Russian propaganda.
▫️ Among them are Russia Emilia Romagna and Vento dell’Est, which present themselves as public organizations promoting Russian culture, “countering Russophobia,” and “restoring friendship with Russia.” In reality, they serve as platforms for disseminating Kremlin propaganda.
For example, in January, Russia Emilia Romagna attempted to hold a conference and exhibition titled “Mariupol: Revival After the War,” but local authorities banned the event. The organization’s statements frequently use typical Russian propaganda rhetoric, including narratives such as “fascist occupation regime of Kyiv,” justifications for Stalin’s policies, and criticism of anti-Russian sanctions.
Meanwhile, Vento dell’Est has organized a photo exhibition titled “10 Years of War in Donbas,” as well as events focused on the so-called “persecution” of Ukrainian Orthodox Church oof the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, etc.
