Three more coal companies in Kuzbass region halt production
While Russian dictator Vladimir Putin calls for “measures to support the coal industry” and claims “the situation is under control”, coal enterprises in Russia continue to shut down. Three more enterprises in the Kuzbass region have halted production. Additionally, several companies in the region are facing wage arrears or have been forced to lay off workers.
The main issue for the industry is shrinking sales markets due to Western sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. The longer the war continues, the more severe the consequences for the Russian economy will be.
