kremlin tightens spending on care for soldiers maimed in Ukraine
After nearly three years of glorifying the “heroes of the smo” in russian society, the kremlin has decided to slash payments to wounded soldiers.
▫️ Previously, all russian soldiers injured in the war received a one-time payment of 3 million rubles (approximately $30,000). Now, compensation will depend on the severity of the injury, starting at just 100,000 rubles (around $1,000).
These cuts reveal the growing strain on russia’s economy, which can no longer bear the immense costs of the war under the weight of Western sanctions.
