Faces of russian propaganda in the TOT: ksenia misyurevich
The CCD continues its series of reports on the key executors of russian propaganda in the occupied territories of Ukraine. One such propagandist is ksenia misyurevich, the editor-in-chief of the Mariupol 24 TV channel thatr was created by russia.
At the time of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, misyurevich was a journalism student at Mariupol State University. During the occupation, she participated in educational programs for media professionals, which were overseen by russian propagandists. She later joined the pro-kremlin Mariupol 24 TV channel, where she quickly climbed the ranks from correspondent to editor-in-chief.
misyurevich produced reports discrediting Ukrainian defenders and spreading distorted accounts of events during the battles for Mariupol. She also participated in the production of a propaganda film about Azovstal, falsely claiming that Ukrainian forces were “forcibly holding” civilians in the plant’s basements.
In her broadcasts, misyurevich promoted the narrative of a “happy occupation,” exaggerating the scale of reconstruction efforts by russia in Mariupol.
In October 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine formally charged misyurevich with collaboration. If convicted, she faces up to 12 years in prison.
