How russia promotes its propaganda through the Eurasian security conference in minsk
The second international conference on Eurasian security, held in minsk, served as yet another platform for russia to broadcast its propaganda narratives about the war against Ukraine to a foreign audience.
▫️ Most of the superficially “peaceful” narratives were voiced by belarusian leader alexander lukashenko. He repeatedly claimed that the West is allegedly ready to negotiate with russia and reach a “tie,” while framing Ukraine’s leadership as the obstacle to peace talks.
▫️ russian foreign minister sergei lavrov, in turn, adopted a harsher tone, calling Ukraine’s peace plan a “dead end” and arguing that the so-called “tie” mentioned by lukashenko “cannot reliably secure the interests of each side,” while reiterating kremlin ultimatums.
This rhetoric aims to create the illusion of russia’s supposed willingness to negotiate, while subtly advancing the narrative that peace can only be achieved on kremlin terms. The conference underscored that putin’s true objective remains Ukraine’s surrender, with talk of negotiations merely serving as a smokescreen.
