Where the kremlin gets money to boost propaganda funding
Along with the increase in war spending, moscow is significantly boosting its spending on propaganda, while cutting back on social spending.
▫️ The draft state budget for 2025 allocates more than 137 billion rubles (over $1.4 billion) to fund state propaganda resources, including TV channels, media, and Internet projects. This represents a 13% increase in propaganda spending compared to this year.
This unprecedented increase in propaganda funding highlights the enormous importance the russian authorities place on the information war against Ukraine. Russian PSYOP and disinformation are expected to intensify in the future.
The Center has previously reported that, under sanctions, the russian government is forced to cover the rising costs of the war at the expense of ordinary russians. Taking inflation into account, almost all social spending items in the 2025 budget will face cuts.
Thus, the kremlin will brainwash its citizens at their expense.
