North Korea’s propaganda: Ri Chun Hee
The CCD continues its series of reports on propaganda in North Korea.
◽️ One of the most recognizable propagandists in the DPRK is Ri Chun Hee, the famous “woman in pink”, anchor of Korean Central Television, who has become a symbol of North Korean propaganda and is known worldwide for her emotional style of news reporting.
◽️ She began working for Korean Central Television (KCTV) in 1971 and “had the honor” of announcing the deaths of DPRK leaders Kim Il Sung (1994) and Kim Jong Il (2011). Although she officially retired in 2012, she continues to make occasional TV appearances to cover particularly important events, as her presence lends these events a certain ceremonial significance. For example, in 2016 and 2017, Ri Chun Hee announced successful North Korean missile tests.
◽️ In 2022, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un gifted her a luxurious residence in recognition of her many years of loyal service to the regime.
