How moscow uses “russian houses” for propaganda in Africa

The kremlin is actively spreading its propaganda in the Global South, focusing its efforts on Africa.

▫️ Previously, the head of “rossotrudnichestvo”, yevgeny primakov, signed agreements to open six more so-called russian houses in African countries, including Somalia, Sierra Leone, the Central African Republic, Chad, Guinea, and Equatorial Guinea. The network of russian houses has already expanded to 15 countries, most of which are in Africa. Among them are Algeria, Bolivia, Mali, Niger, the UAE, Sudan, and others.

▫️ The russian authorities position russian houses as cultural centers that promote russian culture and facilitate the study of the russian language.

❗️In reality, as the Center has previously reported, these “cultural centers” and other “rossotrudnichestvo” projects are merely covers for russian information operations and the promotion of russian propaganda in other countries. The purpose of establishing such centers is to justify russia’s war against Ukraine, extend russian influence, and promote hatred towards the West and democratic values among residents of Global South countries.

EU sanctions have been imposed on the “rossotrudnichestvo” agency.
