May russia and Iran turn BRICS into an anti-Western alliance
At a meeting of high-ranking representatives of the BRICS countries in st.petersburg, secretary of the supreme national security council of Iran Ali Akbar Ahmadian proposed to create a special security structure within the BRICS.
▫️ Ahmadian insists that the BRICS members, in addition to economic cooperation, can create a “new world system” in the security sphere.
❗️ If such a structure is created, it will inevitably lead to an escalation of confrontation with the West, which will view the BRICS as an anti-Western alliance. Currently, the BRICS is not anti-Western, but russia and Iran are making some efforts to position the BRICS as an anti-Western association.
▫️ However, the likelihood that China will agree to this proposal is very low. The current task of the BRICS is to find a consensus on a new global financial and economic system. From the Chinese point of view, this is probably all that is needed.
▫️ Moreover, different BRICS member countries have different security challenges and threats, as well as different views on how to address them. Therefore, it will be extremely difficult for the participants to reach a consensus on the creation of a security structure in BRICS.
