What lavrov’s statements at the BRICS summit mean
russia keeps using formal pretexts to continue the war against Ukraine and to justify its unwillingness to negotiate.
In particular, russian foreign minister sergei lavrov admitted that he had rejected proposals to stop hostilities and start negotiations with Ukraine, which were expressed by representatives of the world’s nations during “unannounced contacts” with the russian minister. He argued that it was necessary to “protect the rights of the russian minority” in Ukraine. This excuse has already become a stamp of ru-propaganda and is used to justify military aggression against our country.
In addition, he expressed the following manipulative statements:
▫️ “The Ukrainian formula for peace is a dead end”.
▫️ “The West does not build bridges for cooperation, but only hits the inconvenient with bricks.”
▫️ “moscow is not closing itself off from negotiations, but the West must change its behavior.”
These statements by lavrov are part of efforts to discredit the Ukrainian peace formula and once again confirm moscow’s unwillingness to negotiate.
