The term “reunification of Crimea”

The reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with russia, the annexation or return of Crimea are terms created by russian propaganda to “justify” the annexation of Crimea.

The correct way to call it is russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine in Crimea.

On June 26-30, 1991, the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people was held in Simferopol, where the Declaration of National Sovereignty of the Crimean Tatar people was adopted.

Since 1991. Crimea became an autonomous republic within independent Ukraine.

In 2014, the annexation of Crimea by russia took place and the term “reunification” was introduced.

Today, the vice prime minister of the annexed Crimea, g. muradov, is promoting the idea of “reunification” of the occupied southern territories of Ukraine with russia. According to him, such a step “is the will of the people themselves” who “have lived for 8 years under repression and abuse by the Ukranian Nazis.”
