Sseveral pro-russian Telegram channels that provide media support for russia’s war against Ukraine have posted messages about “gathering and promptly sending volunteers” to the Mariupol area to help Donbas residents.
It is noted that for the 14-day mission, only stress-resistant men over the age of 18 without serious chronic diseases are recruited. People in this category should bring “a passport, personal hygiene items, a sleeping bag and a change of clothes”.
The Center’s experts do not exclude that such campaigning by russians is one of the elements of the mechanism of hidden mobilization – “fraudulent” mobilization, when a person does not realize that he or she is being sent to the area of combat operations to directly participate in them.
