{"id":6954,"date":"2023-04-15T15:53:11","date_gmt":"2023-04-15T12:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpd.gov.ua\/?p=6954"},"modified":"2023-04-15T15:53:12","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T12:53:12","slug":"ccd-explains-how-rhetorical-questions-are-used-in-disinformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpd.gov.ua\/en\/%d0%b1%d0%b5%d0%b7-%d0%ba%d0%b0%d1%82%d0%b5%d0%b3%d0%be%d1%80%d1%96%d1%97\/ccd-explains-how-rhetorical-questions-are-used-in-disinformation\/","title":{"rendered":"CCD explains how rhetorical questions are used in disinformation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rhetorical question in disinformation is the use of unquestionable fake facts, leading to a question that doesn&#8217;t actually require an answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Russian propaganda asks its audience a seemingly simple question, but gives it the appropriate context, which pushes the listener to the conclusion the manipulator needs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; We liberated Kherson from neo-Nazis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; We allow farmers to sell their products to russia and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; We have protected (read: blocked) your ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; We have blocked social media, which only interfere and incite hostility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here is the main question: &#8220;Who benefits from blocking ports and blackmailing the world with hunger?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The conclusion comes naturally.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, disinformers push the reader to the conclusion they need, but don&#8217;t voice it, ending the text with a rhetorical question.
