russian foreign ministry spokesperson maria zakharova made a number of manipulative statements during a press conference, accusing the UN Secretariat and the Secretary-General of \u00abplaying along with the anti-russian campaign\u00bb by allegedly failing to provide a list of those killed in Bucha. She also once again described the mass killings of civilians as a \u00abprovocation ordered by Britain\u00bb and claimed that Ukraine is allegedly presenting \u00abeliminated militants from nationalist battalions\u00bb as dead civilians.<\/p>\n
Such attacks against the UN are a classic propaganda tactic of distorting the facts. By attempting to shift attention away from the mass killings of civilians by russian servicemen, the kremlin seeks to cast doubt on extensive photographic and video evidence, testimonies from local residents, forensic evidence and the findings of international organisations.<\/p>\n
The systematic denial of atrocities in Bucha, Irpin, Izium and other de-occupied cities is part of russia\u2019s broader strategy.
