This time, the head of the russian occupation administration in the occupied part of Donetsk region, denis pushilin, spoke against the backdrop of the systematic elimination of everything Ukrainian in the temporarily occupied territories about \u00abDonbas being open to different cultures and religions\u00bb and youth events that are allegedly intended to promote \u00abunity\u00bb. The \u00abSVOI\u00bb project became a separate element of this large-scale propaganda campaign. Its goal is to impose a russian identity through stories about the \u00abunity of peoples\u00bb and \u00abshared values\u00bb.<\/p>\n
In reality, the occupation authorities continue their policy of forced russification, systematic suppression of Ukrainian identity and persecution of dissenters. At the same time, propaganda is trying to present Ukraine\u2019s temporarily occupied territories as a space of \u00abunity of peoples\u00bb and \u00abcultural diversity\u00bb.<\/p>\n
But this is not \u00abpreserving peace\u00bb or \u00abmutual understanding\u00bb \u2014 it is an attempt to legitimise the occupation.<\/p>\n
