According to the plot, the main character, codenamed \u00abMarik\u00bb, returns from the front to civilian life and starts working as a paediatric emergency doctor. The title deliberately plays on the shortened name of Mariupol, which was occupied by russia, while simultaneously portraying a russian serviceman as a \u00absaviour\u00bb who helps children. The propaganda deliberately shifts the focus away from the massive bombing of Mariupol, which killed thousands of civilians, to the \u00abhumane everyday life\u00bb of a russian war veteran.<\/p>\n
The main purpose of this production is to romanticise participants in the war against Ukraine and whitewash russia\u2019s war crimes.
