\u25ab\ufe0f According to satellite imagery, fuel oil slicks reappeared on August 20 and 25 this year in the area where the Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 tankers sank. Oil products are being carried by currents and wind in southwestern and southeastern directions.<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f Notably, just one day later, on August 21, an russian government commission reported the \u201ccomplete removal of fuel oil,\u201d while russia\u2019s ministry of transport claimed that the coastline was supposedly clean.<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f Almost two years have passed since the disaster in December 2024, yet the russians have not even attempted to raise the tankers\u2019 wreckage from the seabed. Despite the occupiers\u2019 claims that the situation is under control, oil products continue to pollute the Black Sea waters.<\/p>\n
The situation surrounding the sunken tankers is a clear illustration of how russia treats the territories it has seized: it has no regard for the environment of the occupied peninsula.
