A coordinated disinformation campaign using AI technologies has been detected in the Polish segment of social media, aimed at undermining support for Ukraine and discrediting allies. Polish fact-checking platforms Demagog and Konkret24 have drawn attention to this operation.<\/p>\n
A network of accounts posing as “the voice of Polish soldiers” has emerged on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. They disseminate short video clips in the format of “interviews,” in which these “soldiers” emotionally criticize Ukrainians, accuse them of “ingratitude,” spread lies about the high level of crime among refugees, and exploit sensitive historical topics, including the Volhynia tragedy. Simultaneously, the videos contain anti-Western propaganda, with attacks directed at the EU, Germany, and the Polish government.<\/p>\n
Analysis has shown that all of these “soldiers” are completely AI-generated characters. It is also worth noting that the visual style and content delivery mechanisms are identical to those used by russian AI bot farms, which have previously been used to simulate Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines, veterans, ordinary Ukrainians, or refugees. This is a well-established methodology used by russian intelligence services, adapted for a Polish audience. The Center has repeatedly documented similar russian information operations targeting the Ukrainian audience.<\/p>\n
The goal of the campaign is to incite xenophobia, artificially create tension between Polish society and Ukrainians, and sow discord in Poland’s relations with its allies in the EU and NATO.<\/p>\n
