Representatives of the Center for Countering Disinformation participated in international team-based tabletop exercises (TTX) on communication and awareness-raising regarding crisis situations involving chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. The event, held June 16\u201318 in Chisinau, Moldova, was organized in partnership with the OSCE and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).<\/p>\n
Participants emphasized the importance of developing clear communication plans for crisis situations and protocols for identifying potential internal and external actors who could be involved in responding to a CBRN terrorist incident. During the practical sessions, special attention was paid to methods of effective interaction with the media, the preparation of operational statements, and tools to counter the spread of rumors and disinformation during crises.<\/p>\n
Based on the results of the simulation exercises, participants concluded that it is necessary to strengthen national preparedness and deepen regional cooperation through the exchange of best practices. A study by the Global Partnership\u2019s Initiative to Combat Disinformation (GP vs Disinfo) was reviewed separately with the aim of strengthening public resilience to hostile manipulation surrounding weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n
The Center\u2019s participation in such specialized international exercises is a key component of expanding cooperation with partner countries and relevant UN and OSCE institutions. This facilitates the exchange of best practices for responding to specific hybrid challenges, as well as the establishment of direct contacts for implementing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening global and regional information security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
