The moscow state institute of international relations organized this trip for its students under the cover of a \u201chumanitarian mission\u201d and \u201cpatriotic education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f The official aim of the \u201cmission\u201d is to \u201cfamiliarize students with the history of the region,\u201d but the real subtext is much deeper: russia is moving toward training diplomatic personnel according to the standards of a pariah state.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f The organization of such a trip also says a lot about the institution itself. The moscow state institute of international relations was previously considered a prestigious academic institution and an intellectual center, but today it has turned into an instrument for legitimizing annexation.<\/p>\n<p>Present-day russia has effectively abandoned classical diplomacy based on international law.
