Concerts, motor rallies, and \u201cpatriotic lessons\u201d for schoolchildren all serve a single purpose: to reinforce the narrative of a \u201cvoluntary reunification\u201d and the \u201chistorically russian\u201d status of Crimea.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Similarly, every year on March 16, the promotion of fakes about the \u201c2014 legitimate referendum\u201d intensifies. kremlin-controlled media spread the narrative of the \u201cwill of the people\u201d and a \u201cbloodless referendum,\u201d ignoring reality, as the so-called referendum was conducted at gunpoint.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f In russian schools and cultural centers, workshops, exhibitions, and \u201chistorical lessons\u201d are organized, where children are primarily indoctrinated with the idea of Crimea\u2019s \u201ceternal russianness.\u201d Propaganda seeks to justify modern aggression by referencing events of the 18th century, attempting to assert that the law of force outweighs internationally recognized borders and Ukraine\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Representatives of the occupation administration report on the \u201cconstruction of a new Crimea\u201d to conceal the reality: the transformation of the peninsula into a closed military base and systematic persecution of dissenters. At the same time, they emphasize that the residents of Crimea \u201cvoted\u201d not for \u201croads and welfare,\u201d but to \u201cbe part of a shared cultural, economic, and Orthodox space with russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All these events are not meant as \u201ccelebrations\u201d but aim to instill in public consciousness, especially among the youth, the illusion of \u201chistorical justice.\u201d russian propaganda justifies the seizure of the peninsula with myths of protection against \u201cneo-Nazism\u201d and a \u201ccoup.\u201d This tactic of creating an \u201cexternal enemy\u201d is intended to distract from the illegal occupation and the pseudo-referendum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every year on March 18, russia turns the anniversary of Crimea\u2019s occupation into a large-scale propaganda spectacle.
