Mass gatherings are designed to create a false image of broad support for the occupation and to showcase in the media that the population allegedly celebrates the \u201creunification with russia.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f However, the reality of the occupied peninsula is far from this staged celebration. Over 12 years of occupation, Crimea has significantly changed: from a once-popular tourist region, it has gradually been transformed into one of russia\u2019s key military bases in the Black Sea.<\/p>\n
