Once the relevant decisions are approved by parliament, the republic will legally terminate its status as a member of this post-soviet organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Withdrawal from the CIS is a logical continuation of Chisinau\u2019s consistent policy to minimize and eliminate russian influence. Moldova clearly recognizes the security threats posed by russia and is seeking to sever all institutional and political ties with moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Chisinau is demonstrating a strategic choice in favor of European integration, strengthening its own sovereignty, and distancing itself from structures that for years have been used by the kremlin as instruments of influence over neighboring states.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the CIS is increasingly losing even its formal significance, turning into a relic of russian foreign policy.
