Pro-russian sources are massively spreading statements by russia\u2019s chief of the general staff, valery gerasimov, claiming \u201cfull control of Kupiansk\u201d and the \u201cdestruction of the Ukrainian garrison.\u201d<\/p>\n
In reality, this is yet another lie from russia\u2019s military-political leadership. Ukraine\u2019s General Staff has refuted the fake and confirmed that Kupiansk remains under the control of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Defence Forces officer Andrii Kovalenko, also denied gerasimov\u2019s claims, stressing that russia has NOT occupied Kupiansk.<\/p>\n
The goal of this russian information operation is to conceal its own critical losses in the Kupiansk and Pokrovsk directions, create an illusion of \u201csuccesses\u201d amid real failures, and distract from thousands of killed soldiers.<\/p>\n
