For example, in the arkhangelsk region, the number of deaths increased by 39%, in tula region by 20%, and in the novosibirsk region by nearly 15%. If these figures are extrapolated to the entire country, demographers estimate that over 167,000 people died in April \u2014 nearly 18% more than last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Experts have not drawn conclusions about the causes of the mortality spike, but it is clear that it is related to the war. And it\u2019s not just about russia&#8217;s losses on the frontlines. Economic instability, declining living standards, and rising prices are all taking a toll on health. The redirection of funds to the war has led to a deteriorating healthcare system \u2014 hospitals are closing, and medical assistance is becoming increasingly less accessible.
