Artificial intelligence technologies are developing rapidly and are used in information warfare and on the battlefield.<\/p>\n
Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Intelligence, officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, noted the main trends in the use of AI over the past month.<\/p>\n
According to him, on the information front, russian structures have intensified the method of \u201cpoisoning\u201d large language models (LLMs): they massively generate fake websites, news portals, pseudo-analytics, which is then systematically \u201cfed\u201d to algorithms through SEO optimization. The goal is for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or other bots to unwittingly reproduce kremlin messages in their responses: about \u201cnazi Ukraine,\u201d \u201cAmerican bioweapons,\u201d \u201coccupied Donbas,\u201d and so on. This is a new level of disinformation – not because of trolls, but because of the models themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, AI is being massively used in cognitive warfare: millions of posts are analyzed to build emotional maps of audiences. Algorithms identify where there is anxiety, frustration, and fatigue in society, and fake messages are launched there. This is no longer just propaganda, it is a targeted psychological pressure amplified by neural networks,\u201d noted Andrii Kovalenko.<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f Earlier, the Center reported that since the beginning of 2025, it has recorded 191 russian information operations carried out using artificial intelligence products.<\/p>\n
Head of the CCD also noted that there will soon be a breakthrough in the use of autonomous drones on the battlefield: the United States is actively testing drones that independently recognize a target, make decisions about the attack and carry out the mission without human intervention.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlatforms such as Fury, Ghost, and Roadrunner are already demonstrating their effectiveness in difficult conditions, such as jamming or GPS loss. All of this fits into the broader concept of JADC2 – a single digital command and control system for all forces (air, land, naval, cyber), where decisions are made in seconds, not minutes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f According to Andrii Kovalenko, Ukraine is also forming its own AI front: \u201cNew generation FPV drones that use computer vision. They can autonomously recognize a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, a dugout, fly around obstacles and hit a target even without direct operator control.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Center for Countering Disinformation uses machine learning to detect coordinated information attacks. The models detect anomalies in the spread of a certain message, simultaneous connection of botnets, \u201cpumping\u201d Telegram channels, other social networks, and reactions to them.
