The \u201crussian teacher abroad\u201d project, overseen by the ministry of education of the russian federation, has rapidly expanded its presence in Global South countries. Officially, it aims to promote the russian language and culture abroad and allegedly to improve the quality of education in host countries. In reality, however, this project is a powerful tool for advancing the \u201crussian world\u201d and operates in tandem with branches of the russian orthodox church abroad. This is necessary for russia to increase the number of its allies on the international stage.<\/p>\n
The project spans 29 countries of the Global South, including India, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Algeria, and Lebanon. By the end of 2024, more than 600 russian language teachers had participated in the project, working in 246 schools across these countries.<\/p>\n
